Forest Hill Flyover (P3)

Overview: This project is constructing a bridge over the current Belt Railway Company/Metra/Norfolk Southern railroad tracks, between Damen Avenue and Western Avenue along 75th Street, to eliminate or significantly reduce conflicts due to train crossings.

Construction Timeline: The P3 and GS19 projects have linked construction schedules, with permanent construction for the projects taking place from 2022 through 2025.

Construction Update: Recent accomplishments include the following:

  • Temporary track construction completed June 2023
  • First bridge span set November 2023

71st Street Grade Separation (GS19)

Overview: This project is constructing a road-rail grade separation of the CSX freight line over 71st Street, helping to eliminate conflict and increase fluidity between 30 SouthWest Service Metra trains and 35 freight trains operating daily on the Western Avenue Corridor (CSX).

Construction Timeline: The P3 and GS19 projects have linked construction schedules, with permanent construction for the projects taking place from 2022 through 2025.

Construction Update: Final roadway lowering will follow the completion of the P3 project, anticipated in 2025.
